How We Successfully Design Homes from a Distance

One of the big questions we often get from clients is:

“Can you hire an architect who’s not local?”

The answer is Yes!

Here’s how we work remotely…

Whether you, and / or your site, is located 5minutes drive, or 5 hours, there is no difference to the service we provide. We are a company who learned to adapt in Covid Times; using technology.

We have clients located all over the world: Ireland, UK, Australia, Bahamas, Dubai…

We have a finely tuned adaptation of ‘traditional’ architectural practices; where we meet, mainly, online.

We do, of course, come out and meet you on site, to get a feel for the site, the views, the light, or your house or building.

The benefits of online meetings is that you do not have to travel to your architects office for meetings; we essentially come to you.  We share our screen (so everybody has a good visuals of what we are sharing) and draw over the screen – creating an interactive presentation of design ideas and construction details alike – and an efficient meeting process for everybody.

When it comes to site & construction, we implement a hybrid approach.  We visit site at key points in the process, but, in the main, phone calls, whatsapp messages, photos, videos & zoom meetings suffice. This means that we add value where it is needed & you are not paying us to travel unnecessarily.

Our preference is to produce a high quantity of drawings and information; so that the contractor knows how the building is put together, before starting on site.  This reduces the likelihood of ‘how does this work?’ questions from the  builder.

We prefer to sit down with your contractor at regular, key points, and talk through the building, the construction and the details – as well as anything that is unusual – so the contractor knows what we expect BEFORE it is built.  Therefore, we are future-pacing the build, rather than backwards looking for potential errors.

But sometimes, a good old fashioned site meeting is the best solution!
